What parts of your body can you pierce with a piercing gun?
I know alot of people say dont use them, or only use them on your ear lobes, but could they not be used anywhere else on the body such as the lip? has anyone tried it anywhere else and it be successful?
I had my ear cartilidge done with a gun and it was totally pain free, didnt get infected at all, i think to be honests its about how YOU look after it, not how its done, What do you think?
It’s generally thought that a piercing gun is not safe or appropriate for any piercing, the more ‘hard core’ piercing fanatics amongst us may argue that not even your lobes should be done with a gun, however the main problem with a gun piercing is the sudden shock impact of the gun which can cause problems beneath the skin’s surface, especially cartilage as it has a high chance of shattering upon impact. I would definitely not recommend it for a body piercing, however I have had several lobe piercings and whilst my first couple were absolutely fine, i’ve had some which did not go to plan, whereas all my mate’s needle-pierced lobes have been absolutely fine. The main attraction of a gun pierce is it’s normally cheaper than sterilising both jewellery and the needle etc but body piercings can be so temperamental anyway, I personally would recommend erring on the side of caution and going for a needle pierce.
You’re right in saying it depends a lot on how the person cares for the piercing, but if it is not done properly in the first place it can have repercussions on the healing process.
P.S My friend had their nose pierced with a gun; it got infected within a month and she had to go to hospital to have it removed – my nose (needle) has been fine and we got it done at the same place at the same time. Just another reason i’m a little nervous of guns !
