is it safe to shoot steel shot through a chrome lined barrel?
my husband has a 12 gauge shotgun that he is restoring. he wants to know if it is safe to shoot steel or heavy shot through it if he has it chrome lined.
It will entirely depend on the make/model/age/choke of the shotgun. Since he is restoring it, I get the impression it might be old. We’d definitely need to know more before we can tell you it’s safe for steel shot.
Is he chrome-lining it himself, or using a gunsmith, or a machine shop?
