My new blu ray player won`t work with HD-MI cable but it works with component connection. Any suggestions?
When using the HD-MI cable it works for a short time (about 10 seconds) with a good picture then the tv screen goes green then black and displays “no signal”. The picture will come back after a few seconds then it starts all over again. I`ve tried every video setting on the player and tv and tried all the HD-MI ports on the tv.
It works fine with component video leads (RGB) so its ok but its just a bit annoying as the HD-MI cable was so bloody expensive

Sounds like the cable. There is no setting in the TV or blu ray that would do this. The HDMI cable could have a bad solder, cut copper underneath the jacket so you can see it, or a problem with the pins. There’s no reason to spend a lot of money on HDMI cables. Return these and get the cheapest ones you can find.
back in the analog days, it mattered how good your cable was because you wanted the signal to come out the other side the same as it went in. In the digital world, it’s all ones and zeros going in and they come out the same.
