Tiffany and Co Jewellery
Tiffany & Company life in 1837 as Tiffany & Young, named after founders Charles Tiffany and John Young. In the beginning, the store was located at 259 Broadway in New York City and dealt in stationery and fine goods. Tiffany & Young had an innovative (for the times) policy of giving each item a price tag and not bargaining over prices. That same year, Tiffany introduced the box in the distinctive shade of blue that would come to be known as “Tiffany blue.” Charles Tiffany took over the company in 1853 and renamed it Tiffany & Co. During this time period, Tiffany was known for its fine silver and even earned awards for the quality of its silverware. However, the jewelry portion of the business was gathering steam.

Tiffany Diamonds
The company soon racked up many achievements with Tiffany jewelry, particularly its diamonds. In 1878 Charles Tiffany bought the Tiffany Diamond, one of the biggest and best yellow diamonds the world has ever seen. The original stone was cut to 128.51 carats with 90 facets. The diamond is displayed at our tiffany jewelry store to this day, so that Tiffany’s patrons can admire its unique beauty. Not long after, the company introduced an innovative diamond ring setting that has been copied the world over. Instead of setting the diamond into the band, Tiffany jewelers used six prongs to raise the diamond off the band. This showed the diamond off better and allowed it to catch more light. In 1887 Charles Tiffany obtained some of the crown jewels that had belonged to French royalty, earning him the nickname the “King of Diamonds.”

Changing of the Guard
In 1902 Charles Tiffany’s son Louis Comfort Tiffany and co opened an art jewelry department in the company to create innovative, artistic jewelry designs and later became the firm’s artistic director upon the death of his father. With Louis at the helm, the company continued to prosper and make a name for itself.

Expansion
In 1940 Tiffany & Co. moved to its famous building on 57th Street in New York City, where it remains to this day. It wasn’t until 1963 that Tiffany ventured outside of New York and opened a store in San Francisco. In 1972 the company opened its first international location in Japan, and in 1986 established a European presence with its London store.

A custom gift that I could give out at camp?
It is my last year at camp, and I want to give a gift to all the people in my age group. The budget is $5-$10 per person, and there are 60 people. I want something like maybe a bracelet, but not those rubber ones. Or a necklace, pillowcase, i don’t know!
Also, i want something special for my two best friends and me. Maybe sweatpants, sterling silver jewlery, etc?
PLEASE HELP!
(presents are for all girls)
I forgot- the budget for my two friends and i is $30-$50 per person. Thanks!
For your two friends, how about a sterling silver charm bracelet with a heart or star charm, that you can engrave? Have it engraved with their name or initials, along with yours, and the years you went to camp together, and a special friendship saying or message like “Friends Always.”
For everyone else, how about making beaded bracelets or keychains? OR you can make them blinged out flip flops! You can buy cheap flip flops (like $2 per pair) if you shop around. Try Walmart, Rue21, Old Navy when there’s a sale, and craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Then buy a hot glue gun and a bunch of Swarovski-style crystals. Glue the crystals on the vamp of the flip flops. You can buy a bunch of different sizes–usually the cheap ones come in small (5-6), medium (7-8) and large (9-10.) Bling the flip flops in all different color combos!
