Surfing is one of the most popular water sports, with more than 20 million people doing it regularly. It is no surprise then that fashion has responded to this niche. Clothing companies have come up with clothes that can cater to the needs of surfers and those who want to join in on the fun. After all, surfing is more than just the sport itself. It is also about the lifestyle it creates.
Men are definitely supposed to wear shorts while surfing because it is the most comfortable outfit for them. There are many of models and colors that may be chosen from. If the guys want to follow the last trends, short board shorts instead of the styles that reach until the knee is the best thing they could possibly do. As far as the colors are concerned, the board shorts should definitely be multi-colored or make use of prints.
For women, they can be more fashionable but still comfortable. This is not surprising surfing requires a lot of movement. One piece suits are known to be the most comfortable but bikinis and monokinis may also be used. For the shorts, there are long and short styles to choose from. They can be printed or come in a solid color. As far as the trends go, the woman’s shorts follow the style of the men: the shorter, the better.
There is also the trend in matching the clothes to the surfboards. While this may be a good idea when it comes to contrasting or complimentary colors, do not go overboard. Surfboards can be expensive so it is impractical to buy several just for the outfits. It also limits the clothing that can be worn if there is a need to constantly match.
When it comes to trends in the rash guards, or the shirt that is worn over the suit when surfing, the possibilities are endless. In this aspect, it is best to choose bright colors for safety. Colors such as red or pink are always popular. Avoid colors that match the ocean because that makes surfers hard to spot in case there is an emergency.
The most important thing to remember when it comes to surfer fashion trends is to play the part and have fun. It would be pointless to wear the fashion if there is no intention to join in the fun.
