In a three-stone setting, what color/clarity rating should I get compared to the side diamonds?

I found a great deal on an engagement ring setting — the one my girlfriend absolutely loved — a two months ago and purchased it without the center diamond. It is a white gold ring with 11 stones: 8 .20ct diamonds, 2 .35ct diamonds, and the center diamond will be .75ct.

The two side diamonds are G/SI.

I located several diamonds within my price range that are E-F/VS1-VS2. But, through my whole diamond searching process, I noticed that you can’t tell the difference between a E-F diamond and a G/H diamond unless they’re side by side. So, would the E-F center stone make the side stones appear more yellow?

In other words, would the higher-color-rated center stone make you more aware of the lower-color-rated side stones?

I don’t really want to shell out the extra money, if it will make the side stones look worse.

Go with a G SI for the center stone as well. The inclusions of an SI stone are not visible to the naked eye so don’t waste money on getting a VS stone. Unless someone is going to look under a microscope it will look the same. You definitely don’t want to get a much different color because it will make the side stones look yellow in comparison. Sounds like it will be a very pretty ring once completed.
